Opening Times: 9am til late

Established in 1966, it is one of the oldest bars in town and has always been know for its (acoustic guitar) live music. Originally English owned, the pub has been a long time in Portuguese hands, but the interior and atmosphere haven't changed. Live music every day of the year (except Christmas eve). In the winter months it starts at 9pm, during the highseason a little later. Daytime snackmenu.

This place is fantastic. After a lunchtime visit on our first day, we were back every day. Great location right on the square in the Old Town, great range of beers, cider, cocktails etc., great food (the tastiest, most tender Calamares I've ever had!), and mostly the brilliant, friendly staff!

I went to this bar during the 1970s when Sir Harry was there running things. He was a tall thin guy with a handlebar moustache and he used to fill up a blackboard with the latest news items and football results. Times were a bit dodgy then, after the Carnation Revolution and some Communist activity, and it's good to know the bar survived. But what happened to Sir Harry?????????? ????
